If You Build It (a Website), They Will Come (and Learn About Work-Based Learning)

Submitted by pgaleoto on Mon, 12/10/2018 - 22:28

When you’ve got a lot of information about work-based learning to share with diverse audiences throughout the state of Nevada, you need a well-designed, hard-working, robust website. For The Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation for a New Nevada, the hard-working, creative marketing agency that built that website was the Estipona Group.

Which one of these things is NOT like the others?

a.) A little black dress
b.) Feathered bangs held in place by an entire can of AquaNet
c.) A well-tailored navy blazer
d.) Mail

You said “Mail,” right? Gotcha! Because sure, those other items loosely have something to do with fashion — but come on, feathered hair? Definitely not something we’d call “classic.”

The rest — an LBD, navy blazer and mail — these are all standards. And they’re here to stay.

Smokey and the Bandit. Convoy. BJ and the Bear. Estipona Group.

What do these all have in common? They all have something to do with truckers, duh. And while we at the Estipona Group never thought we’d be working in the trucking industry, this is one of the coolest parts of our jobs: getting to dabble in all sorts of industries — without actually having to do the actual (and usually tough) work of the business.

Have you ever been the beneficiary of someone paying it forward? Maybe someone paid for your coffee in the Starbucks drive through; or perhaps you and your gallon of milk were invited to cut in front of the dude with the full grocery cart at the supermarket.

And how did that make you feel? Pretty darn nifty, right?

We figured. And this is just one of the reasons we’re celebrating Pi Day this year — 3.14 — with the #24Years24Deeds event we’re calling “Random Acts of Pie-ness.”

Thermo-Stone USA recently launched a newly redesigned website, created by Estipona Group with photography from Insight Studio.

Thermo-Stone, a local Reno manufacturer known for its thin-film heating technology used in markets ranging from medical to aerospace to household appliance, had a goal to showcase Thermo-Stone products and process in a visually-appealing, modern way. The website also had to provide information to engineers on Thermo-Stone capabilities.

Reno Deserves Spectacular Things

Collectively, we at the Estipona Group have seen — and even experienced — resistance to the idea that Reno deserves spectacular things. We believe that sometimes, Reno has suffered from an identity crisis of sorts, seeming to buy into some of the less favorable characterizations others throw our way; that uncoordinated, sometimes haphazard development has produced bits and pieces of success, but that nothing has created that cohesive vision that Reno deserves; that the region is often labeled according to lore rather than reality.
