EG Rewind: Fun with Ed and Jane

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year, we felt it was fundamentally important to cast a well-deserved spotlight on many of the people who helped get us here. So we decided to document this process through a video series we’re calling “EG Rewind.”

(Here’s a virtual hat tip to MTV Rewind for the naming inspo.)

Keep Calm and Throw a Party

Someone recently asked how I could throw so many parties (on average one a month) without losing my mind. The honest answer is that I usually do get at least a bit stressed out, but probably not as much as other people because of two things: 1) I love bringing people together and entertaining, so this is fun for me; and 2) I do it a lot, so I have many of the elements in place ahead of time.

Double bonus, one of my roles with the Estipona Group is planning events for our clients. How awesome is it that I get to do something I love for work?

She Said/She Said: 140 vs. 280

For anyone who follows us on social media, you know that among the Estipona Group ranks exists a uniquely contentious (though congenial) battle of the wills:

Jackie vs. Mikalee.

They’ve debated ellipses. They’ve debated Oxford commas. They’ve debated percent vs. % and which spin-off was better: Joanie Loves Chachi or Mork and Mindy.

Estipona Group Collecting Pajamas for Local Children Through Project Sweet Dreams

When you think of children and pajamas, your mind probably goes to cuddly snuggles, bedtime stories and cozy blankets.

And this should be the reality for all children — old or young, homeless or wealthy, healthy or sick. Because every child should have cozy, warm, soft pajamas to snuggle in at bedtime.

Q. When did art call you? (Note that if the “a” were capitalized, this would be a completely different question.)
A. Very early in life, art came calling when I was in grade school. I would copy political caricatures from popular magazines, and I got a book on sketching animals. I decided back then I wanted to create commercial art of some kind for a living one day.

Estipona Loves: Gratitude!

We at the Estipona Group are absolutely oozing with it.

Gratitude, that is.

And the things for which we find ourselves feeling grateful this year range from the totally expected, to the “huh, hadn’t thought about that, but I’m totally down with your grateful vibe.”

Check out what made our list for yourself. And if you’re willing, head over to our Facebook page and tell us what makes you feel thankful.

PS. We’re also beyond grateful for YOU!

Are You an Innie or an Outie?

Do you wonder how anyone gets work done in busy open spaces? Do you wish you could offer more valuable contributions in team meetings? Do networking events exhaust you?

If so, you might be an introvert, and do we have a networking event for you!

And yes, we recognize the irony.

Our own VP of Strategy, Mikalee Byerman, is a loud-and-proud introvert. And she’s going to offer insights into the key differences between introverts and extroverts at next week’s NCET Biz Bite luncheon, taking place Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 11-1 at the Atlantis.

On August 26, Nevada Volunteers, the Governor’s Commission on Service, announced their finalists for the 2017 Governor’s Points of Light Awards and WE were on that list!

From the Nevada Volunteers website: “The Governor’s Points of Light Award Ceremony honors individuals, community-based organizations and businesses for their contribution to communities through volunteer service.”

Good Deed #15 — Moon Rabbit Café

I’ve been going to the Reno Buddhist Center for yoga on Saturday mornings on and off for the last four years or so. When I saw they were introducing a pop-up dinner called “Moon Rabbit Café” (MRC), I was intrigued.

But it wasn’t until April of this year that I finally went to check it out, and I’m so glad I did! It’s a pay-what-you-can community dinner they put on every other month, so you get people from all walks of life. If you can pay more, do it. If you can’t pay at all? No problem.

It was just about a year ago that we were all learning about Zoom meetings and virtual events. While 2020 was the year of “Helen, you’re on mute,” there’s a pretty good chance 2021 will be the year
