The Challenge

The multi-year goal of this campaign is to change local legislation to guarantee every workplace in the Truckee Meadows is smoke-free. Currently, most workplaces enjoy clean air thanks to the 2006 Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act. However, the exceptions — casinos, bars, and some adult entertainment — pose unacceptable health risks to employees and customers. Many of these Nevada venues have entrenched ideas about gambling, adult entertainment and smoking going hand-in-hand, and a fear of change that may alienate some customers.
