"It's for fun."
—Michael
For some people, creating is inherent to who they are. Michael Lindsey is one of those people. He loves taking an idea that exists only in his mind and making it into something real and tangible. When he was young, this led to a lot of doodling in the margins. As a Senior Graphic Designer at Estipona Group, this relentless creative exploration results in imaginative and novel solutions for his clients’ communication challenges.
For the past decade, Michael has been designing and art directing at advertising agencies and in-house teams in northern Nevada. His experience includes developing and supporting brands in tourism, healthcare, entertainment, food & beverage, education, tech and the nonprofit sector. In addition to being a talented graphic designer, Michael is also an exceptional illustrator — equally comfortable creating on paper or with pixels — whose work has been featured in LogoLounge’s annual logo design book.
Michael started exploring a design career at a college near his hometown of Oakdale, California. It wasn’t until he followed his family to Reno, Nevada, in 2011 and took a graphic design course at Truckee Meadows Community College that everything clicked. There, Michael earned an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Communications, and landed his first graphic design job, working as a designer for the school’s Marketing and Communications department.
Michael enjoys the entire design process — the strategy, research, and teamwork that gets a project to the finish line — and has a special affinity for brand identity development. He loves creating something utterly new and seeing his finished work out in the world serving people in some useful way. His joy in creating is matched by a seriousness about design detail and quality in his work. A perennial student of his craft, he craves learning and exploring new techniques and is constantly buying design books, working on personal projects and trying out new techniques and styles.
It may come as no surprise that in his free time, Michael also indulges his creative mind. Case in point, his annual October horror movie immersion, wherein, he not only watches a horror movie every day, but designs a new movie poster daily. He also loves creating in the kitchen — and eating his creations — writing, playing (piano and guitar) and listening to music, and playing video games. Michael and his partner Leah share their north Reno home with an overly protective Chihuahua named Mika.
